Sock up your hair! DIY + tutorial

Hello darlings!

Today I have a DIY and a tutorial for you. You probably already know the 'hair doughnut'.

If not, this is what it looks like. It is made out of a kind of foam and you wrap you hair around it and stick hair pins in it to hold the hairstyle.

A hair doughnut can be a little expensive, and one day I saw this very cool video on youtube. A girl made it on her own, and I wanted to do the same, just as the video stopped. It is free, fast and easy and a fantastic alternative to the "real" hair doughnut!

What you'll need to make your own hair doughnut:

  • Sock (a clean old tennis sock works perfectly fine!)
  • Pair of scissors
  • Bobbi pins
  • A pair of scissors

STEP ONE

Cut the "toe" part of the sock.

STEP TWO

Fold the sock until it looks like this.

STEP THREE
(the tutorial)

Make a high ponytail, almost on the top of your head.

STEP FOUR

Put your hair into the hole of the sock and start rolling the hair around the sock until you reach the elastic.

Pin the bun down so it holds better.

Take your fingers under the hair and pull out a little, ONLY A LITTLE!, to loosen the hairstyle.

And it should look like this in the end!

You can mist the hair with hairspray to make it hold better and longer.

Thank you to my beautiful model and dear friend, Sofie for letting me borrow har hair and camera.

You are a darling!

OUTTAKES

Hahaha.

I hope you found this helpful and try it out!

Camille
